Tell them that the aliens that abducted you told you to do it. Maybe that'll satisfy them.
They are probably more likely to believe that.

I've been buying eggs from a local produce market for a year. A little boy raises chickens for FFA and I buy those. I'll never buy grocery store eggs again. Never.

I don't think we have anything like that here in South Florida! I've never heard of anything like that before here. I moved to New York for 16 months. I lived in Schoharie County.... That was a Right to farm county. You could have any kind of animal you wanted and could plant anything you wanted. The whole county was zoned for farming! Here in South Florida they are zoned for housing and commerce!

Both my husband and I are Vegans but we  have always been very vocal when it comes to raising our own food. My husband said he'd eat our chickens eggs because he knows where they come from and that they are happy, healthy, well taken care of. And if I ever had enough room to rise chickens for meat that he would eat those as well. (I became vegan for him so th
ese where all my ideas in the first place) But many friends ask us how we would be willing to eat those eggs but not store bought ones. Also that it's terribly cruel for me to raise something I would just kill....  :barnie Crazy people! I try and try to explain to them but than they tell me I'm just being a hypocrite.

No, the hypocrits are the ones who KNOWhow bad conditions are for commer ail meat animals, yet continue to buy and eat it. But they dont raise their own, because they "Couldnt bear to kill an animal "

I sent my first chicken to freezer camp last week. The best reaction I got was "but it was a rooster. You can't eat roosters. They never sell roosters in the store they are all clearly labeled as chicken".

In the last 2 days I have had 4 knocks at my door from people telling me that my chickens got out of the coop. The girls have been free ranging for about 2 months. We have 2 acres for them to roam but the love to stay right next to the house. One of the women told me to take better care of them. Le sigh...

I did stop to let a person know their chickens where out once. Because they where in the freakin' road! they asked did you hit one? no, and the kid just sat there with his friend playing checkers, and this was no back road, it was a busy road near the edge of town, I head later this family wasn't all that bright, and I believe it.

I know this has probably been said over and over but my boss expressed disappointment when I told her I'd have white eggs. "I only eat brown eggs" she said.

*sigh*

I briefly & gently explained it all depends on the breed, eggs shell color doesn't matter, but didn't push the issue.

More eggs for everyone else!

I have 3 request for eggs already and my chickens are not laying yet. They are too good and in high demand to share with the dumb. :p

Who started the thought process that brown eggs were "better" than white? I've always wondered why so many people think that. I know I get brown egg layers just b/c it's fun to see the different shades (getting a couple EEs this year for the kids), but not b/c I think they are "better" than white. One time last year the 6 eggs I collected for the day were a lovely color graduation from light to dark. It was pretty neat!
