Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

I have been asked on 4 different occasions how much time I spend styling my chickens hair.

When I told them none, my Polish just looks like that I usually get a confused, really?! One lady looked at me looked back at the picture and said she needed feathers instead of hair then. I thought it was funny. :)

lol Did she think the chicken had a wig? Gotta admit some of those chickens have pretty amazing hair!

I love polish chickens! I've never had one myself but I bought one and gave it to my sister-in-law as a gift and it is the coolest thing ever! I'm just waiting for some of my chickens to mature so I can spend more time with ornamental chickens!

I had a friend when I was in high school who went vegetarian (for about a week lol) and tried to tell me why I should not be in ffa or eat animals. She showed me this thing from a peta website showing a cow being processed. I had to laugh at her and peta. They were saying they dangle them while they're still alive and just torture them. I said "Do you even know how a cow is actually processed?" of course she did not. I told her they zap them in the brain and they die instantly then they slit the throat and hang them up to bleed them out. They're moving around and twitching because to nerves not because they're alive. That's just bad business, the meat would be stressed and taste awful. She kept showing me stuff and I told her peta has no idea what it's talking about and that she should just be in ffa with me if she actually wanted to learn something lol If they actually wanted to make people stop eating animals or eggs they should just show they horrible conditions that these poor battery hens are in. But you know they only want to save the "cute" animals

I just think if you're going to "save the world" people should educate themselves first

I think it was Harry Truman who said the problem wasn't so much that people didn't know anything but that they knew so many things that simply weren't so.

My friends daughter who's 14 has decided to become a vegetarian and her mom makes her eat fish as part of an agreement they made, but she brought her over to my house yesterday and I've never been shy about telling others I butcher my own animals. Well apparently she didn't tell her young daughter this and when she found out that I was going to butcher my roosters this fall she told me she was just going to walk around back and give them some peaches off the tree. I heard a bunch of squawking and it turned out she had tried to let my roosters out and they wouldn't fly away like she thought so she tried to chase them off. She now has to come back and help me take care of all my animals everyday for the rest of the summer. It's not like she has all summer, although I'm going to make it a very informative two weeks. I am going to make sure we watch a few documentaries about slaughterhouses too. Anyone ever heard of Temple Grandin', she's sort of a superhero in the animal industry.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I watched this series on TV, and have watched the missed episodes online. I found it very good. Maybe you can slide a few episodes into your teaching. There are quite a few to watch for a range of animals and products.

Series is "Kill it, cook it, eat it" Made by the BBC. The series cover beef, pork, chicken and other animal products like rendering, beauty, additives suede's and leathers.

Hi guys, just a quick reminder, from the forum rules:

This is such a fun thread, I'd hate to see it get locked. Let's try and keep it on topic?

I have one hen that absolutely has to follow me around where ever I go, So I bought some of those washable diapers for chickens. Every now and then she comes in the house with me and stays in the kitchen. We put up a baby gate so the dogs won't mess with her. So when the kids are hanging out in the kitchen she comes in every now and then and hangs with them too!
