Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

I had someone ask if I could raise organic eggs for them. They only wanted to pay $2 a dozen though. I told them no. Conventional eggs in the store cost more than that here.

My mom is allergic to wheat. She has no issues with my eggs.

I find that a lot ... people who believe farm-fresh should be less expensive than store-bought. And that used to be true! But the reason food is so inexpensive at the grocery store now is because of the factory production techniques. I cannot replicate that level of efficiency.

I think there are sheep that have litters, but I could be wrong about it, don't keep sheep and don't really know much about them.

A big litter would be an awful strain on a ewe since the udder only has two nipples. One lamb is common, two lambs fairly normal, and several breeds have been selected for their ability to produce three lambs. There may be farmers who've developed some four lamb breeds, but they're still stuck with that two nipple udder, so there's got to be some sort of upper limit there.

I thought that it was not uncommon (say 1 in a hundred) for sheep to have triplets and maybe 1 in a couple of hundred for quads especially in breeds like border Leicester, but ewes with more than twins would have them fostered off to ewes with single lambs

Gluten free water has nothing to do with stupidity. It has to do with marketing, and thefact that a gluten free label will draw the attention of people looking for gluten free products, even if it is on something they would already know to be gluten free, like water.

Okay, I think we need to differentiate between real mean spirited ridicule and just plain laughter at how stupid we have become as a society. I spend so much time at work educating people about animals, and I don't just mean livestock. Even the pets we are most familiar with are a mystery to the general populace. I don't make fun of them when explaining things, but I do have a few private laughs over some of the ridiculous ideas I hear. I am so New to the chicken thing, but even I can take the opportunity to teach people about them. When the chicks are in my store I go out of my way to talk to the little children about the birds. Some of those who start a back yard flick are really interested in getting closer to their food and just need to learn. Must of the folks laughing have gone out of their way to correct the misconceptions, so cut then some slack and let them have their chuckle

Just for the record there are now some labels on water that say "Gluten Free". WATER!!!

ME: That's for the edumacation of those morons who don't already know that ... so they'll know THIS brand of water is safe to drink ($$$). Just one more form of stupidity tax.

I thought that was what I (basically) said ... only in a less PC way. "THIS brand of water is safe to drink ($$$)". The "brand of water" and "$'s" were there as a reference to marketing. Do people really need their "attention drawn" to water when shopping for gluten free products? Isn't that a given?
