If they're that worried about a horse standing in its own poop, then why doesn't the lady ask them to help her out in cleaning out that horse's pasture every day?? They go thru a week or two of that nonsense and then maybe they'll realize that it really doesn't bother the horses that much, they just wants to get fed.

Only if you pick them up and annoy then - and they didn't smell all of that bad, and if you used dish detergent you could remove the musk from your hands pretty easily.

Sometimes I seriously miss Eugene, but I love the way it is here. Honestly...what I miss most is Christmas in the winter. It just feels odd here.

That's the rule of thumb - don't walk in tall grass in the summer. Watch where you're putting your feet, etc. In the winter I'll let my little boy tromp about to his heart's content. Snakes are a lot more sluggish - summer's the dangerous period.

I am so tired of animal advocates. They are harassing a woman who lives a mile or two from our Nevada place because her horses stand in horse flops by the feed trough every night, starting at about 4PM, and stay there until she gets home and feeds them. They insist she needs to clean up every flop out of if falls out of Dobbin's rump. And she's mean because she keeps her horses walking when they make horse flops while being ridden.

To be fair - many animal advocates are fighting a real battle against seriously messed up treatment of animals. The way that chickens are treated by some farms is exactly why I raise my own chickens.

And when people look at me horrified that I eat my own hens, I tell them that I know exactly what kind of life my hens have had. If I'm going to eat meat, I'm going to eat meat that's had a good life.

There are also a bunch of idiots. Like the people who give me crap for calling myself a "pet owner" rather than an "animal caretaker". But they're a lot of wankers.

I agree, but I think one of the biggest enemies of the reasonable animal activists is people like PETA and ALF who make a mockery of their cause or take a lot of money donated to the cause and use it for publicity stunts that accomplish nothing and help no animals.

Oh I agree. I can't stand PETA. They're a terrible organisation. They seize animals and then euthanize them often without even attempting to rehome them. It's absurd.
