Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Oh my goodness, I got a good one a few days ago, and I just had to share! I was talking with a non-chicken-friend, and they mentioned that they would be interested in getting hens. I was excited to potentially have a convert. Here's how the conversation went:

Me: "That's so cool you're thinking about getting chickens! What is drawing you to them? Is it the fresh eggs? How they look? Composting? Organic meat?"
Friend: "No, I was thinking of selling the eggs."
Me: "..... oh, well... um. You don't have a big property..."
Friend: "That's alright, I'll only need like 3 or 4 hens"
Me: "Um...."
Friend: "How do you file your tax returns? I mean your profits arn't just under the table right?"

That's hilarious. My husband (a finance guy) is still averaging costs just for "fun" as we don't sell. I think we might still be in the hundreds of dollars per egg...

easy to me subtraction is lunch and dinner though some people on here think of them as the dog or cat, I love them but I see them as a "tool" per-sey they are providers for breakfast and baked goods until their useful life hits the "salvage value" meaning it's stew pot time.... that's my view I know some don't agree

That is not far off from the only place near me that sells good eggs. They sell them for $8 a dozen and always sell out. I can't wait for mine to start laying....

I sell for $3/dozen. I told my neighbor that I wanted $2, but he insisted, "That if I'm going to pay $2 a dozen I might as well buy S****y eggs from the store!"

I always give people the first one free, and then they WANT to pay! Marketing at its best....

The dumbest thing for me... I did meat birds for the first time. The first one we ate, which was so good!, my mom says, "I am surprised the meat it white. I wouldn't have thought the meat would be white since the birds were white."

Huh? I still don't get it, but thats what she said...
