Some people just don't get real animals. I love when people try and tell me the turkeys are meat eagles, the goats are deer, the cows are horses, and that silkies are rabbits!

Just today a cousin from Chicago: "You know if you make your own butter from a cow's milk it is poison to eat"
I didn't even know how to respond it shocked me so.

Please tell me you asked her to expalin that one. I really want to know how she came up with that.

Ranks right up there with the guy who went to the cheese plant and wanted FRESH sharp cheddar. None of that old stale aged stuff. He wanted FRESH sharp cheddar. He never did believe the salesperson when she told him there was no such thing. He also wanted some Swiss cheese with no holes in it. At that point the salesperson gave up.

Imo, it goes far beyond poor hands on education though that definitely plays a part. It's a symptom of an apathetic and corrupted society heavily influenced by corporate propaganda. A lot of people in america are entirely dependent upon tax avoiding and corporate welfare collecting transnational corporations. I've got friends and relatives who rely on taco bell, hardees, and mcdonalds for every bite of food they put in their mouth. The few times i've mentioned the negative repercussions of raising an entire family on the fast food/never interact with nature lifestyle i always get the following excuse. I don't have time. Inevitably they are also the same people who watch 3 hours of tv a day

In an attempt to undue the damage i caused via derailing the thread, i do have an on topic lol story that happened a few days ago.


My grandmother is a notoriously picky eater. She simply won't eat most people's cooking. Anyway last year when i brought her eggs she disliked them though she didn't elaborate why. A few days ago i thought i would try to give her some again to see if she would eat them this time. To my surprise she did and asked for more. I inquired as to what had changed her opinion. She said the eggs i gave her last year tasted bad because i had more than one rooster. She said that more than 1 rooster caused the eggs to be overfilled with -------

I sold a couple of Dominiques to a man who informed me, "No one calls them Dominiques anymore. They are now called Barred Rocks."

My mother-in-law and an aunt won't accept my eggs. They say they grew up on a farm and have first hand knowledge of how nasty chickens are. They feel secure knowing their store bought eggs came from chickens living in a sterile environment
