Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Holy crap! The neighbor is over and boy have I heard some good ones this evening!

If you go down there and blow on their private area you can tell if them chicks are girls or roosters.

You're not breedin just eatin so just build shoots out the nests. The eggs come out in jelly form and dry out on their way down.

You got enough females you can probably count on about 4 or 5 eggs a day once they get to layin. (23 females)

And my father-in-law wants to know if I got any of those double yolker breeds. According to him it's only certain breeds that lay double yolkers.

there is a thread on here about a group of Amish has bred a line of chickens that lay nearly all double yolkers. You could probbly breed stuff like that into a line just as easy as breeding stuff out, all it takes is the right genetics....

OMG, I was telling a lady at work the other day that I'll be getting chickens this summer and plan to have lots and lots of eggs. I told her I'd bring some in for her so that she can taste how much better they are.

Know what she said?

Her: "Oh my GAWD, eeeeeewwwwww, I could never eat those eggs!"

Me: "Ummmm, why not?

Her: "Well, BECAUSE, they came out of a chicken's butt!"

Me: "Ummmmm. Huh? You eat eggs from the store, right?"

Her: "Well, yeah, of COURSE, but that's different!"

Me: "How is that different? Those eggs also came out of a chicken."

Her: "But those are all sanitary and come in a box."

Me: "I'll wash my eggs and box them for you too."

Her: "Blech, no way. I could never eat eggs from your chickens. That's just gross."

Me: "***?"

[Erica walks away shaking head]

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

LOL, this is just too much. No wonder I want to quit my job and become a pioneer woman and never have to leave the house...
The most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity...

Yeah. Except it is hard to get those double yolkers to hatch.

I have a soon to be sister in law that knows Im starting to raise chickens for fresher eggs and she told me that she wouldnt eat those eggs cause they came from a chicken I just sarted to laugh and she said what and I said they all come from checkens she still dont beleive me I think for someone who lived in the country side all her life would know all chicken eggs come from chickens I just had to walk away. Your statement is the food and food production system in US in microcosm. There has been a diliberate effort to lift a veil over the food prodution system, and this is the result. Eggs don't come from chickens, beef doesn't come from cows. It comes from a supermarket. This is exactly what Big Ag wants Americans to think.

Big Ag wants no such thing. The only veil over food production is blinders. Self imposed.

So not a dumb thing just fun to do...

For a fun time try calling extended stay hotels and when they ask you if you have any pets (because site says pets allowed, not specific at to what kind of pets) say oh just the three chickens but they are rather quiet. That was fun to do to the Sheridan, with rooms at $120 a night, discount for extended stay.

I am in the middle of moving and she asked about my pets, I could not resist.
