But it isn't. Ovulation cycle yes. Menstrual cycle no.
It is similar. It achieves the same results. Basically, a hen ovulates, then the egg moves down the oviduct to where a womb would be in a mammal, and it gets wrapped up in yolk, white and shell. Then, it is expelled from the body in the same way as menstrual blood. Imagine it as a woman shedding her whole womb every month instead of just the lining, it's like that

Ask your friend that if you can't eat fertilized eggs, why do grocery stores sell them? Not all grocery stores, but some do. And hens do not have menstrual cycles. As far as I know, only primates do.
Nope, all mammals. Anything with a womb, has a menstrual cycle. What's cool is that the hormones are all the same too. I don't know how it works with cetaceans, they might be a bit different.

Something else to remember is that most mammals never have a menstrual cycle, they get pregnant every time they come into season.

As far as I know only primates have menstrual cycles. Heat cycles are not menstrual cycles. Ovulation cycles are not menstrual cycles.

Apparently your definition of a menstrual cycle and mine is different. Heat cycles are not menstrual cycles. Ovulation cycles are not menstrual cycles.

I was asking a friend if her rooster was. Back in with the hens & whether or not her eggs were fertile. She said they must be because Spot was taking his job very seriously. Another friend said, "You mean roosters actually mate with the hens? I thought they just had to pee or whatever on the eggs."

Conception through urination. That's a new one.
