I believe its closer to planned unnoticed minute burning.

With a pre-paid phone the only time the phone company gets money is when the customer has to buy more minutes. Once you buy the minutes they don't expire.

That's why i believe it planned minute burning. The only thing that changes on the phone screen to show the browser is on is the word "Browser" disappears off the screen. I've gotten rather paranoid about making sure "Browser" shows on the screen.

In Key West it was a common occurrence for visitors to think they were in a foreign country. Almost any day I'd be asked if US stamps would work for their post cards, did they have to exchange their American money for ours, would their cell phones work since they were out of the country, etc.

Two H.S. grads away from home for the 1st time stick out in my mind...they asked me if the chicken was our state bird (chickens roam freely in KW). They asked me that after already telling me they were from central Florida and they were amazed when I told them their state bird was the same as ours in KW.

Lots of stories from those days. Some days it was funny and sometimes just plain aggravating. Too many people seem to pack their suitcases with everything but their brains.

Yep. Heck, I've got a 3rd generation iPod touch that works great, its just that apple has stopped doing updates for it anymore. I can listen to my music on it, and I can browse plenty of different websites on it. The only thing different from it verses the newer generations is that the new ones have cameras on them. Sometimes for work we do chair events, and we have gone to a place where they wish you to not bring cameras inside because they've got some pretty hot tech stuff there. Having that iPod touch means I can bring in a play list of music there and they don't have to worry about putting a little sticker over the camera on my phone as I can leave that out in the car.

That and Apple recently announced that they have stopped production of the original iPods. You know, the ones that had that wheel you used to click thru everything. They claimed it was because they couldn't get the parts for the wheel anymore... Really??? At your own factory and you can't figure out how to build another clickwheel.

Long live the Conch Republic! Here's a little background if anyone is interested (courtesy of Wikipedia):

In 1982, the United States Border Patrol set up a roadblock and inspection point on US 1 just north of the merger of Monroe County Road 905A/Miami-Dade County Road 905A onto US 1 (they are the only two roads connecting the Florida Keys with the mainland), in front of the Last Chance Saloon just south of Florida City. Vehicles were stopped and searched for narcotics and illegal immigrants. The Key West City Council complained repeatedly about the inconvenience for travelers to and from Key West, claiming that it hurt the Keys' important tourism industry. Eastern Air Lines, which had a hub at Miami International Airport, saw a window of opportunity when the roadblocks were established; Eastern became the only airline to establish jet service to Key West International Airport, counting on travelers from Key West to Miami preferring to fly rather than to wait for police to search their vehicles.
When the City Council's complaints went unanswered by the U.S. federal government and attempts to get an injunction against the roadblock failed in court, as a form of protest Mayor Dennis Wardlow and the Council declared Key West's independence on April 23, 1982. In the eyes of the Council, since the U.S. federal government had set up the equivalent of a border station as if they were a foreign nation, they might as well become one. As many of the local citizens were referred to as Conchs, the nation took the name of the Conch Republic.
As part of the protest, Mayor Wardlow was proclaimed Prime Minister of the Republic, which immediately declared war against the U.S. (symbolically breaking a loaf of stale Cuban bread over the head of a man dressed in a naval uniform), quickly surrendered after one minute (to the man in the uniform), and applied for one billion dollars in foreign aid.
Conch Republic officials were invited to the Summit of the Americas in Miami in 1994, and Conch representatives were officially invited to 1995's Florida Jubilee.[5]
The mock secession and the events surrounding it generated great publicity for the Keys' plight — the roadblock and inspection station were removed soon afterward. It also resulted in the creation of a new avenue of tourism for the Keys.

Agreed. I don't want to be called unless I want to talk. Don't even turn on my cell unless making a call. $39…no internet. but has a great camera, video and more stuff I don't care about. I let my land line go to answer to avoid all the solicitations. My few friends know to start a message and i'll pick up if I am home.

Personally I really don't like phone chats….but love these.

I just don't understand why people judge you if you choose to abstain... I already have a computer at home, why do I need to carry one around with me? Lol!

When faced with rational arguments in favor of not following the herd, they judge the "abstainers" negatively in order to feel better about their own choices. Such insecurity about one's own decisions is to be pitied. You ought to hear them when, after 2 divorces and many relationships, they learn that I am not interested in having another partner ... ever again. You'd think they say, "Whatever works for you". But, instead, they talk to me like I need to be committed.
