OMG i can agree with you on this! You are not stupid and good for you standing up to that horrible, RUDE person! Rather than insult you, he could have just asked how you knew that.. really. MY teen, now 20 is a smart girl. She had the same experience with our goats this last fall...(Daughter: Its a nubian... Crabbyguy: noo! its a goat... you are a stupid kid....Daughter: go back to the city! grow up and learn some manners.. ME: My jaw dropped to the grass!) We live near one of those huge subdivisions that get built in like a week, and it seems so full of rude, impatient people. We are 25 minutes from town, and this huge housing thing was built from a farmers estate that had passed away. I didn't know it would be so terrible, thought it would help our community.. And now we are flooded with people that stay angry all the time. So sad for them. When i go to town now, its become rude impatient people at the grocery, hardware, and the bank. Our little town was full of kind hearted, cheerful, old fashioned people and maybe a few busybodies we all still loved. Thats progress?...Thank you for speaking out and best of luck to you.
I, too, live in a small town. Since we're in the mountains and have a beautiful lake, it's over run with tourists during nice weather. Some can be very impatient and demanding, assuming all locals are incompetent. But, we're not the ones who had to "escape" our homes to come here, are we? <big grin>
My favorite response to the rude ones is a big smile while asking, innocently, "Were you born this rude, or is it something you had to perfect?". It may not solve anything, but it sure makes me feel better.
