Dumor feed

I feed the layer pellets and the start n grow. I happy with them. The feeds at the TSC is stored inside. The Girls seem to like them.

I have at times fed it to my layers when my feed store was out of my regular brand. My hens did just fine with it.

Started my hatch on Dumor chick starter 20%
then switched to layercrumbles that they are 8 months old.
But I have a 50# bag of the chick starter left,
can I
use it up? for the entire flock for the winter ?
i was told the higher protein would be better.
for the winter months.also do i need to put
out calcium free choice for the layers.
they do get their treats and love yogurt 3x a week.
they are still laying..

all mine were raised on durmor chick starter then switched over to layer...no complaints here!!!

I feed my birds Nutrena Layer crumbles to my big girls and Nutrena Starter/Grower crumbles to my babies. I have bought a small bag of Dumor when I ran out. They didn't seem to eat it as well but I bought pellets and it may have been the change from crumbles to pellets. When I did get their regular feed I smashed up the Dumor and mixed it with their regular feed and they ate it ok. Also when ever I have any Chick Starter/Grower left over, I mix it with their layer and have had no problems. I also give my birds treats of scratch, (oats, unshelled sunflower seeds, once in awhile bird seed, cracked corn etc.); in small quantities as these are treats. I also give them veggies, fruits, most everything that I can grow including all kinds of greens. I do grow a lot of corn and watermelon especially, also tomatoes, squash, root crops, the list can go on. I feed them everything except potatoes. I figure they will eat what they want. I have dishes of granite grit and crushed oyster shells available free choice for them. I do free range them.

Can laying hens eat chick starter? I have a bag left over, but have been afraid to feed it because of the medicated aspect... Let me know what ya know! Thanks!

At the TSC, the Dumoor is inside...I feed my gals the crumbles with the little ones getting the starter. I also throw in some scratch along with black oil sunflower seeds. They also get to free range almost daily and they get to eat leftovers -- tortillas, eggshells, greens, popcorn...while they watch a movie -- hee-hee!

I've fed them Layena, too, but only when I'm in the next town (Hondo) and remember that I'm out of food...they love to scrounge under the wildbird feeders for whatever's been dropped...they hie-tail it across the yard to the bird feeders when I open the gate for free-ranging time.

Mine started on Dumor Chick Starter, and now they're on Grower/Finisher at 3 mos. old. About the time they start laying, I'll switch over to Layer. No problems so far. Our TSC has all the chicken feed inside so it's not wet. There's not a lot to choose from in my area - it's either Dumor at TSC or the Southern States brand. A friend recommended Dumor and so far, so good.

Ditto: Started em on Dumor Starter, then switched over to Grower-- then stared alternating the grower with Layers Rations (Mash) From the local Co-op.... they seem to thrive on the mix... My SIL has the other 1/2 of the batch of Rocks we have, and ours are at least 1/3 larger than their "nest Mates" that she has free-ranged and fed mash alone.

I also do Durmor chick starter for my babies then the adults get layer
I only have a choice of crumble, the TSC in Athens doesn't carry the pellets any more (which I think I had less waste with pellets)

I think the Durmor feed is cleaner than the feed at co-op

I store each different feed in seperate large plastic garbage cans
one with baby feed, layer feed, crushed corn, rabbit feed
