Dumpster Diving-Garage Sale-Goodwill-Thrift Store & Craigslist Finds

I scored a few things over the last couple of days. I had been looking for an elliptical and I saw an ad on Craigslist for a Nordic Track Elliptical. I researched and the elliptical that was posted was selling for $300.00 but the cost of a new one is $599.00. I contacted the seller and asked him if he would accept an offer of $200.00. He said yes. I was so happy. The elliptical that he had was for his wife but she only used it about 3 times, according to him. He said that it was almost 2 years old and in excellent condition. I went to take a look at it and he was right. It was in EXCELLENT condition. It still had the "new" smell on it. I picked it up on Saturday. He also threw in a blender that was in VERY good condition for FREE.

My co-worker who has about 19 cats  also bought me 12 empty cat litter containers so that I can use them as nesting boxes. I am excited about my new finds. There are a few more things that I am looking for (dehydrator and inversion table) and I hope that I can find them for free or at a reasonable price.

one of our horses came from amish country and was used for field work and in a log mill. the others ground drive but have not been hitched. yep, we'll be doing proper harness training before hooking up our clackity loud sicle mower.

You all have me feeling inspired. I'm hoping to hit the Community Aid store today & pick up some spring sweaters.

Over the years, we've gotten tons of construction materials from free. I almost never buy new clothes when i can find really nice designer type stuff to wear to the office for a few $ at the junk stores. I love thrift shopping.

When you find something, please post. :pop

I found this two weeks ago on our local Craigslist for FREE! I had been looking for one, and my hubby was going to make me one, but I found this one first. She bought it last year and never used it.

I volunteer at the local food pantry, which runs two thrift stores to fund programs. They give away about $300,000 worth of clothes every year; and with most adult items priced at $3; that's a lot of clothes.

Lately I've been shopping the 'boutique" area at the clothing store. We get lots of brand name clothes, most sold "boutique" price for under $10. This week I got a black Chico's jacket, a new skirt, a Foxcroft top, and a Coldwater Creek top for about $25. Any one of the items I bought would have cost double what I paid for all four. Best score was 16 pairs of shoes, summer flats, in my large size 10. We had 3 boxes come in, and I stocked up. I won't have to buy shoes for a long time. Living in Texas, summer flats are an all year round shoe.

I was at a restraunt auction wanting to buy a 55in flat screen tv they had but before they got to it they were selling wood tables, 4ft square, and 2in thick. I got the bid at $4.00 and bought 5 of them. When I got them home I found out that the tops were 8/4 oak. I plan on using all of the tops to make one big dining room table. Got the tv too.

I'm moving so I wanted to find some luggage. First went to a store that sells items from department stores..the luggage was at least $50 even for a small one. So I went to Goodwill and we found all sorts of luggage in various conditions. I found a Samsonite one that is in very good condition and the price was 9.99. We got another two-piece set for $14.99. But when I went to pay, they only charged me $12.50 for ALL of it! :woot

My thrifting trip was OK, but not stellar. I got a pair of black jeans, a silk Talbots sweater and a couple other summer things. Spent $29, but had a gift card for 25 of that. Then I went to the more upscale consignment store next door & got 2 sweaters (1 is LL Bean) a scarf and a pair of Sanita clogs for $30 all together. I have really good luck at that store finding unworn brand name shoes on super sale. Last year I got a pair of leather mary janes by El Naturalista. Later I looked them up on Zappos.com - they're $130 shoes.
