I mixed a batch yesterday and today of Duramycin-10 (1/2t per quart), and it mixes up pale yellow, but when I looked out later it is a dark caramel color(as if it has gone bad), only hours later. Is this normal?
Best guess is CRD (am hoping for nothing more serious) so am dosing for 14 days. Have seen multiple different answers on how long after discontinuing the meds we can resume eating eggs, with an astonishing proclamation by a website that says you mustn't use Duramycin-10 at all for layers. (what?!)
Is this color correct or is something amiss? Have I ruined my hens for laying?

Don't you know nothing is good for you. lol If I use my house softened water it stays yellow colored but if I use well water at barn to mix it turns brownish colored almost immediately. I give it to chicks for first two months so by the time they are laying it has been a few months without.

I just mixed 5 teaspoons into a gallon jug and it was yellow. I used it right away, but just looked in my sick girl's bowl and it's still yellow. I just read the drug info and it says "Not for use in turkeys or chickens producing eggs for human consumption." I'm hoping that just means we can't eat the eggs while they're being treated cuz I just put it in my hens' water too. I'll be dosing for 14 days also because I have no idea what my girl has. Here's the drug info: http://www.drugs.com/vet/duramycin-10.html.
