Duramycin to treat bumble foot? couple of questions...

Thanks dawg! I checked pet stores, I didn't think of the pond store! I'll call them this morning and if they don't have it in stock, I'm ordering from koiacres!

The hen I operated on a few days ago was limping considerably less yesterday, but I still think I should treat her. I had removed the black spot and it hasn't come back but the swelling is still pretty bad. I'm sure I didn't get it all.

UGH! Sounds like you might have some more digging to do. I dont know if it's safe to use trineo on a swollen foot. I never did. I remember seeing in the trineo thread that it's not recommended to use trineo if you've already done the surgery, there wasnt anything about swelling as I recall. But truthfully I believe some BYC's soaked in trineo after surgery, you might want to review the thread. In the meantime here is a thread on "ruth's" bumblefoot surgery that might help you if you havnt already seen it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=236649
Remember
, when you get the tricide neo...use distilled water only. I was able to figure out and break down the dosage to conserve the trineo...not much of it in the package.

I realize this thread is a few years old, but I'm new to the site and first off, love everyone's info and experience! We took in a baby turkey a week ago and it has a swollen foot (the reason I couldn't walk away from it in the farm store)... The only injury I can narrow it down to is bumblefoot however, it isn't hard and doesn't have a black opening or scab... It's just a soft pea sized marble... He/she isn't limping any longer and I check it daily and it hasn't appeared to change for the better or worse... I picked up some Duramycin-10 today at a different farm supply store and figured I would give it a shot but Im not sure what else to do?! I've called every vet within a two hour drive (literally took me a week of calling before work everyday...) just to be laughed at by most... I would've thought at least one farm or exotic vet somewhere would know?! But anyway, he/she is in the man cave hanging out under its heat lamp with unlimited food and water and his container is lined with about 4-5 inches of care fresh bedding and two layers of paper towels so that he has a soft yet stable surface to walk on and he can't eat the paper plus it's easy to keep him clean... This is the ICU room I've managed to piece together from various threads concerning treatment.. Does anyone have an additional ideas for treatment before I start the duramycin or any info on the proper use of this med (I literally have never owned a farm animal, this is all new to me, so assume I know nothing! Lol) I also have some questions about feeding him differently since he will be a pet, not a main course, that I will post in the appropriate thread if there's any tips there! :) Thanks in advance!!!
