Hi all. In a previous thread I mentioned that there was blood in my chicken's stool and many of you told me to go ahead and treat for coccidiosis so that is what I'm currently doing as of today. I was just wondering what the best way is to go about keeping the ground clean? We will rake the poop but I noticed that they also have two holes they created in the ground from dust bathing. Thankfully they don't poop too close to it. However, I've noticed that some people use sand, and some people have a small pool or area designed for chickens to dust in? Just trying to think of how to keep it as fresh as possible and lively.

I wasn't sure so I looked on this product that I actually buy (which is more expensive than the one I linked to) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009M2YCOM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_u6dqFbX6YGSGP

It says this re the ingredients:

I've used it for a while, on the poopboard and a bit sprinkled under the shavings in the coop when I clean it out (maybe 3 times a year). I have never used it on bare earth in the run as I haven't needed to but it can be used for that. I may try it on the concrete when I hose off the area my dog uses as a toilet and see if it gets rid of the lingering smell there.

My chickens haven't suffered any adverse side effects from it.

I can't get "sweet PDZ" here. Unless this is the same?

Not the same...PDZ is the mineral zeolite.

Does it give percentages on the label of the container you have?

There is a large area of the run we added peat moss, wood ash, sand, and sawdust to. This makes it lighter and great dustarea. It is covered in large/coarse chipped wood.

craters created everywhere, but only 3-4 on anygiven day. We only fill in The ones that could cause us to misstep.
