dust bath

I'm new to having chickens. I want to make them an area for a dust bath and I'm wondering if I can add DE to some sand for their dust bath...

Make sure it's the food grade DE.

I seriously doubt the dirt my girls bathe in is food grade!

Well anyone here that Mountain Bikes they know all dirt is "Food Grade" whether you like it or not.

I would not worry so much about dirt being food grade. If it is not clean or smells bad to bird they will not dust in it, plain and simple.

Just do not use any herbicides or pesticides any place near chickens the soil on your property will be fine.
