Dust baths with 7 dust?

I remember a while ago a smart farmer added a bit of 7 dust to his chickens sand/dirt bath to help with pests and it work great. Any comments on this? Is it safe?

Do you mean Sevin dust? I've used it to get rid of mites before and it didn't hurt the birds at all.

What do y'all put the sand and seven dust in? I thought about a dishpan in their coop.
