Dust Baths

IDK about the Chinese elm, what I have here are piss elms, when I split them for fire wood the splitter 28 ton struggles on the trunk area, and forget hand tools.
Yes, piss elms are chinese elms. They planted tons of them after the dutch elm disease took out all the american elms, they grow fast but are basically short lived and shed lot of stuff...although they are resistance to dutch elm disease. Similar story with chestnuts.
 
I have silkies and I've heard a number of people say they use sand or mix sand with some DE. I live near the Jersey Shore ... can I just use regular old beach sand??
