The run for my hens is particularly grassy is the a certain type of sand i should buy for them to dust bathe in or will any ole dirt do???

Not trying to jack this thread but if you're using a tractor full time, should you provide a pan full of sand for dust baths?
I'm planning on moving my tractor every 2-3 days to save the yard. Would a foil cake pan be big enough?

Mine like plain ol dirt. Not sand though. Sometimes I'll sprinkle in DE. I use the top part of a ceramic bird bath during the off season. They love it.

They sound like good ideas. My hens like dirt, and the sandy barn floor, which is ha a lot of dirt in it! Today, I found the two older hens rolling in the dirt, by the side of the house... funny girls.

When mine are confined to the tractor, they tend to turn one corner of the area into a "dustbath section" pretty quickly.
