Even though I built the chickens a nice covered sand box it was too close to run wall and the rain penetrated the wood. I did have the box slightly elevated but the wood it's self got wet and the sand just sucked up the moisture.

I have the sand in several containers in the basement trying to dry it out but it's been a week and it's a slow process.

I was wondering what others who live in wet and cold climates use in the winter time and or where they found dry sand??

Spread the sand on the floor of the basement. It will dry in no time.

Ours just bathe in the dirt in winter time, too. Of course, snow is a rarity here.

Ha, ha, thanks but no thanks.

I have put the sand in smaller tub containers in our sun room and it's slowly drying.
