I use First Saturday Lime and mix it with wood ash if I have it. They love it. I have it in the coop which is 20'x 12', and the only downside is that it covers everything with a fine powder. It is NOT bad if inhaled, but I think I will move it out to the run in, which is covered with a roof. I can't seem to keep the coop looking clean. And yes I am a tad OCD.
