Dusty, the Broody Blue Orp, and Babies (PICS)

LOL that is just about the broodiest broody I've ever seen! She's spread out on that nest like a blanket. Looks like a good good mama to me.
Congrats on the beautiful babies!

Oh wow, Dusty is gorgeous. I almost wished I hadn't seen her, now where can I get one (or more) like her......?
I just want to squish those little ones - too cute!

Dusty is awesomely gorgeous, but I'm wayyy odd, I like Megs and the Barred EE baby... so Cyn if they don't sell... I'll be there in about what six weeks??? Four weeks? After all this is my year of living dangerously and both if girls would be good broodies. LOL

chuckle

I think I've finally been totally assimilated....

That would be totally cool. I think Meg and her baby are adorable. And I've been staring at photos of EE's too often to not want one. LOL.

LOL Ione is paying me in Del babies for a bator I loaned her next week. OMG...

I will have a lot of them to sort through for keepers. You have any new pics of your hooligans?

I'd love to see where their feathering and coloring/combs are at now.

It's pouring rain right now and when it's wet, due to my ankle, I don't attempt to go downhill to the Firetower or main coop. I may be able to get pics Sunday or Monday, depending on how muddy their pen is. I bet they've grown inches in the couple days I won't see them. Only Tom tends to them when it's slippery out and they are always so happy to see a human, LOL.

Dusty is beautiful Cynthia. You can't look at that picture and tell me there is not someone who gives animals and instincts to mother our babies.

Dusty had not moved from that spot in 4 days, no water except one sip, no food till I threw some crumbles in front of her. This morning, we heated up a towel and removed her from the nest, put the towel over the babies and sat her outside. She had pooped once in the nest, but it was solid and dry. As soon as her unsteady feet hit the ground, she pooped nasty liquid stuff. She drank like she had been lost n the desert for a week and took a couple of bites. She could barely stand. I didnt want to lose her to dehydration and I think her dedication to the nest and babies had almost done her in. First timers just sometimes dont quite kinow how to do this thing.

Dusty is ONE dedicated momma!!! I'm glad you pried her loose.

I worry about my Mildred turkey, she's pretty adhered to that nest as well. She eats what I bring her but the others often knock over the bowls of water I bring her.

When it's safe give Dusty a hug for me LOL. Have you considered wetting some food for her? I may do that for Mildred.
