If I put food coloring in their water will their feather's change color?

No, don't think so. If you want pink or green chickens you have to bath them in water with food color in it. Some people do that with white Silkies. I don't think that the birds are happy with this stylish "hairdo". But here is a vid of a better homes and gardens with very colorful Silkies.

Actually for colored chicks, the dye is injected in the egg just prior to hatch
