Dyeing Easter Eggs The Natural Way...

Is there a good trick to blowing them out? I just tried with 8 eggs and only had 2 that didn't crack or explode, that was messy. I used a sharp needle to make a tiny hole then pushed a nail through to make the holes a little bigger.

Amanda0609 - I tried to shake mine up first them I pushed a thumbtack through both ends, then carefully pushed a toothpick through the holes to make bigger and wiggled it around to scramble the egg yolk, then blew my brains out

... my cheeks were really hurting, thats worse than little balloons! My last 2 cracked alittle on one end. I did figure out if you can blow some of the yolk out over top or both holes with your fingers and shake real good, then blow some more.............

Jen4-I made sure I poked the yolk with the sharp needle, I guess I blew too hard because I had 2 that totally blew up all over me. Oops...I might give it another try tomorrow with a few more eggs. I would rather blow them out because I don't like to eat hard boiled eggs. I will try the toothpick next time. Thanks for the suggestions.

Turmeric stains everything yellow...would work on egg shells.

ETA a couple more....had to go look in one of my files, I haven't done them for awhile:

Dandelions - To turn eggs pale yellow, pick two cups of dandelion heads, boil them with the eggs, then allow the cooked eggs to soak in the mixture for one to two hours.

Grape Juice - For a light violet, soak pre-boiled eggs in enough juice to cover them completely for half an hour; soak up to three hours for a deeper blue color.

Red Cabbage - Red cabbage actually turns eggs blue! To obtain a robin's-egg blue color, fill a medium-sized sauce pan with red cabbage leaves and boil them with the eggs. Once eggs are cooked, remove cabbage and soak them for at least an hour.
