DYI incubator question

I used parts from an old styrofoam incubator to make a new one out if a styrofoam cooler. My question is:. Is it ok for eggs to sit on the bottom of the cooler or do they need to be elevated while incubating?

I would elevate them on a rack of some sort. Like a frame wrapped in mesh or something. I guess they can technically set on the bottom, but the ventilation wouldn't be very good
