In the last two weeks we've lost 8 heavycross meat broilers. They are about 7 weeks now. We only fed medicated feed for the first 3 weeks and then switched to meatbird feed. At first we just noticed that they were dead. Now we can pick out which one is going to dy, and they're dead the next morning. They get droppy and put there beak in the ground, the skin seems to be sort of a dark purple as well. A friend mentioned we may have a virus? We were ready to butcher, but don't know what to do now. We still have 110 birds left. How do you know what virus we have? We don't know if we should take a bird to the vet but will our vet know anything about chickens? Help- We don't want to loose our remaining birds, because right now we're loosing one to two birds a day.
