My chicken was attacked by a dog a few days ago and I didn't think she was hurt too bad but a big clump of feathers on her butt were pulled out and there was some blood so I coated it with blu kote. She seemed fine yesterday but when I checked on her today she was in the nest box completely silent sleeping. It's only 7 and definitely bright in the coop and she's usually a VERY loud chicken so that worried me too. She was a little broody on and off for a while so that might have something to do with it but I don't think so because then she would be clucking a lot more at me.. I think there were some flies around too and I'm afraid they might be in her wound?! please help I don't know what to do

Please I don't know what to do. Should I try to take her out of the nest box to put more blu-kote on her or something else? Would that help?

Take her out, bring her into your house, look at wound very carefully, you are looking for maggots. If you find some, wash them all out, look all around her vent and check to see if any are inside her vent. She must have a wound if there are flies around her, clean wound again, put antibiotic ointment on wound(nothing ending in "caine" toxic to chickens. You should keep her separate so that no chickens are pecking at her. Give her some electrolytes if she seems ill. Make sure she is eating/drinking. I would keep her inside for couple of days to observe her and to keep flies out of wound.

Thank you so much. There were maggots. In the time that it took me to try to get the stuff together to clean her up she got a lot worse. She wasn't opening her eyes at all anymore. I wish I could save her, but I've lost all faith in my nursing abilities at this point and I can't stand the thought of putting her through this again. I decided to cull her.
