Anyone here use them? I had never really seen one before last week. My best friend's fiancee uses them, and my husband and I are intrigued.

I have never smoked cigarettes, but my husband used to be a regular smoker. Our friend let him try an e-cig out. At first I was very irritated to seem him puffing on one, but after some research, I find that I don't really mind. In fact, I rather like it myself. So much so that we just bought some.

From what I understand, using one of these is very similar to drinking a cup of coffee. And that the nicotine by itself isn't nearly as addictive as a cigarette because it isn't partnered with all of the added chemicals. But one thing that I can't seem to find is whether nicotine has more cancer risk to it than caffeine or any other low-level stimulant?

They really are pretty nifty. They have all kinds of different flavors, and from what I understand are nowhere near as harsh as a cigarette. You can also choose how much nicotine is in the cartridges you buy. Anywhere from 0% to 2.8%.

Anyway, I thought I would put it out here for you folks to discuss.

Have you used one before?
Want to try?
Hate them? Why?

And what about use in public? One of the major advertising hooks is that you can supposably use them indoors, in cars, one planes, and even in hospitals. Now, I can vouch for the indoors claim. We smoked them in our living room and the next morning you would never be the wiser. They leave absolutely no residual smell whatsoever.

However, I am not sure how flight attendants, nurses, doctors, or waiters would feel about seeing you puffing on one in any of their respective locations. Anyone ever do so and were confronted? Were you made to put it away?

]My wife and I used them for about 3 months as a stop smoking aid. I wouldnt start using them for any other reason... Our 5 yr old girl complained about the smell of tru cigarettes and the ecig eliminated that complaint...but I would smoke it just to smoke it... I wouldnt use it as a recreational.........

That what weed is for......

But thats not legal......

Take a look at 'e cigarettes' on Wikipedia.

Oh I did. I am looking for personal opinions and experiences :)

I hear ya. I used to implement cannabis, but as you say, it is illegal. Haven't used it in ages. The e cigs aren't quite as "fun", but I do find them to be quite enjoyable, personally.

I'm sorry to hear that :( Were you trying to use the e cig for tobacco cessation? What didn't you like about them?

My BFF swears by them. She's been using the ecig for probably a year and it satisfies her craving for a cigarette.

According to her the pro's are: No odor - can smoke inside - can sneak a drag whenever you want it and no one can tell - never scrambling for a match or lighter - better health-wise as no tars, say's she feels better. Also, she say's much less expensive.

The con's that I observed while visiting her: Need 2 of them, one to smoke while the other is charging. Must buy a little bottle of liquid nicotine to refill the cigs and need to make sure you have enough when traveling as liquid nicotine not readily available. One thing I think would be difficult is that there's no end to the cigarette. When you light a cigarette, you usually will smoke it until it's gone. The e-cig isn't gone until the nicotine runs out. You smoke until you're satisfied but there's no "one cigarette" stopping point.

I took a hit and the nicotine is certainly there. I was envious as she could smoke her e-cig where I couldn't smoke my regular cig. BUT, there were times where she would bum one of my regular cigarettes saying mine was "real" so I'm guessing there's some aspect that the e-cig can't replace.

IMO the whole anti-smoking thing is based on junk science, so...
