Hi there. This was so long ago that I'm having a hard time remembering. I do know that I had him on a few rounds of Clavamox. That dried him up so that I was able to pull all the gunk out with tweezers. You wouldn't believe how much came out of his ears!!! I am still stunned to this day. And repeatedly. One important thing is to make sure all the yellow/green gunk is removed. I preferred the tweezer method, as it just took it all out easily once the meds dried up his ears. I may have done some drops after I manually cleaned his ears with the tweezers (every day until it stopped coming back), but I'm not sure. Of course you have to have a really tolerant rooster to do this, as the tweezers go down quite far. Don't attempt if he won't let you because you could permanently damage him. I could tell when he was all emptied out because he started crowing again. He got another infection the next year and I used the up remaining clavamox, did the cleaning, and it cleared up quickly. I still check his ears routinely. I don't think this will help you but I sure hope you find something that does. None of the human/dog/cat drops worked on him, believe me I tried them all it seemed. My vet gave me the clavamox, she used to be a zoo vet so I trusted that she knew what she was doing. And metacam for the pain for a couple days. Depending on the antibiotic, my guess is that maybe it is either helping to suppress the infection but isn't quite the right one so it comes back, or you need to be on it much longer. Antibiotics are so hard on them though. I hope some of this can help you. Good luck.
