noticed one of my SLW had a bump on its head, thought it might have been from a branch falling during high winds, but on closer inspection there is a scabby bridge thing from the ear to the top of the head and the head is swollen, there is also another small growth behind the large lump. Chicken is about 8 months old or so, current nutra-drench in water and bluekote on the wound. It should be noted that some of the chickens have been pecking each other lately, could this have been a peck that got infected

so yank the scab and a little bacitracin? It looks to be coming from her ear, the swollen part on top is throwing me off

I would use some hydrogen peroxide (just once) and some QTips to probe the wound to see if there is any pus inside. Clean off any dark crusts, and squeeze a bit. Then use some bacitracin or other antibiotic ointment on it twice a day. Vetericyn would also work. Make sure you have someone to hold her and cover her face with a small towel. Avoid the eyes with any of the cleaning. Let us know how she is in a day or two.
