I know this is a not a duck site but my son in law is hatching Ruein ducks. At day 24 the beak is in the air sack and peeping. Is this unusual for an egg to hatch this early? If so can chicken eggs hatch 2-3 days early. I know he is not prepaired for this early hatch. I told him to get his butt in gear and get ready. I don't have an answer so I though I would ask here. Please advise. John

If they hatch early, it is usually because the temperature was a bit high during incubation. It is best to adjust your temperature based on hatch day. So if you eggs are hatching 2 days early, decrease temp by 1 degree (regardless of what the thermometer says) and see if your next hatch is more on schedule. Keep making these adjustments until you get them close to on time. It takes a lot of trial and error, but with the right tools and documentation you can get them to hatch almost perfect every time.
