My 17 1/2 week old, Prissy, did the squat this morning and I don't want to get too excited. My other EEs started laying between 22-26 weeks old and they didn't squat until a week before they started laying.

But even as a chick, Prissy was always ahead of the other little girls in her achievements. She's got the personality to match her name too.

I wouldn't be surprised if she started laying in a week or two, you probably just have an early maturing hen.

Congrats!

Mine were hatched on Sept 21, and two started laying near Jan 15th.

The earliest I've had an Easter Egger lay is 22 weeks. My most recent EE pullet began squatting at 20-weeks and didn't produce her first egg until nearly 23-weeks. Her first egg was a perfect, green, medium sized egg - much larger than most first pullet eggs - and she hasn't missed a single day. Every day her eggs are a little bigger and a little bluer.

I only have 2, the first one took 24 weeks and the second one only took 15 weeks to start laying!

My oldest EE is 19 weeks old tomorrow. I caught her squatting last week, but no eggs. Her comb is not that red either, not like my RIR's comb. My RIR is 19-20 weeks and no eggs either? Her comb grew quite a bit last night and her wattles came in last week. I'm so anxious for eggs I'm going to explode!!!
