Well I have to say it is false. I have a pullet who just started laying. She has white earlobes, and lays a nice small brown egg.

I fully agree with you. There is no genetic link to ear lobe color and egg shell color. If you go to Henderson's breed chart, most pure breeds follow that rule but you can find some exceptions. And I also have some hens with white ear lobes that lay brown eggs.

But I warn you, seek shelter. I mentioned this recently and really irritated some people. They read on the internet that there is a link and were really irate when i disagreed.

What about my silkie who has turquoise earlobes? She certainly doesn't lay turquoise eggs...That would be cool though...

so far i have found teh exeption of Araucana and maybe ameraucana

they lay blue eggs but have a red earlobe

and my CL has a mised white with red splash earlobe

Well, to a degree, it's true, but there are notable exceptions like the Holland, which is a red lobed bird that lays a white egg. And some crosses, depending on what is in their genetic makeup, will not follow the general rule, either.

Most brown/red lobed hens do lay brown eggs and most white lobed hens lay white eggs, but not all.

It's a general rule of thumb, not written in stone. And as mentioned, when you mix breeds all bets are off.
I agree totally with what everyone had to say. I just figured I would share :) I thought she would lay white, but nope. She is part Phoenix, but also had a father who was just a white frizzle mix. Who knows what he had in his past!
