Hi, I have candled over 100 eggs in the last year most of them I never saw the veins. In the end I learned that at around day 14 the egg will be completely black with just the air hole visible. If the were clear bits in the mass it was most likely dead but left a few more days to be sure. The one egg I had so much fun candling was my bantam egg. Throughout the incubation I saw the veins and then the embryo and the embryo moving a lot in the last week or so before lock down. Unfortunately I find most eggs just aren't see through enough to see the veins all the time. I don't have a proper egg candler so maybe that's my problem I use a bright blue led torch. Anyways that's just my experience. Good luck with your incubation and candling and eventually your chicks! Love chicks, makes me want to get my incubator going again but I must resist!!
