I have about 30 3 week old chicks that are mixed bantam cochin and ee. Some of the chicks are developing combs and others arent. Since they are the same age and type would the early comb development mean a rooster?

That has been my past experience.

Early developing comb is usually a roo.

I have to admit that my 18 year old son did it for me. He is not home right now to ask him how he did it but my other son said that he used photo shop to do it. I know that he showed me several different ways to make it move and I chose that onel I think that it was called " flag waving" When he comes home I'll ask him how he did it and post it.

All right. I asked him how he did it and he said that he used JASC animation shop 3 which is something that has to be downloaded. That was all the information he would give me.

I would say it is a roo, not because of the size (at 3 weeks old some pullets could have started developing alittle sooner) but because of how red it is. I have a 4 week old BO whos comb is larger than the other's but it is still yellow.
