Okay, I have a baby rooster who is like 2 months old and he crowed three times the other day...he isn't big enough to cull. It would be like eating a cornish hen right now...he is a Cochin/Isabrown mix, I have three of them and one Barred Rock rooster to. Does anyone know how early these breeds will start crowing for real?

There is no SET age, I'm guessing you have a few weeks or so before the "real" crowing starts.

My young roo only started at around 18 weeks - but that was probably because there was already a dominate rooster in the flock - he's now crowing up a storm.

and is about 20 weeks old.

I had one try to crow around that age. After a couple days of odd noises he gave up and now at 4months old still has yet to make an actual crow.
