Early eggs?

My parents barred rocks started laying at 17 weeks 5 days old. Is this not a little earlier than normal? They raised them from chicks so we know the age is correct. They are big beautiful birds with nice red combs and wattles.

It is very early but not unheard of this time of year. The long days and lengthening days they experienced while approaching maturity is likely the cause.
