Yes there is a market for them. I picked each of my adults for their conformation to breed standard, winning bloodlines, and mostly...winning MILKING lines. There is a big demand for dairy goats right now with the economy the way it is.
Nigerians, like all animals, come in different levels of quality. You might get a cup a day out of a poorly bred goat while most of mine will give around a half gallon a day.
Not saying there aren't some non registered brush goats, or mixed breeds, that don't give oodles of milk.....there are.....and they are wonderful!!
but you always have a better chance of a good milker when you know their milking ancestry. Plus, the winning showlines let me know that a goat is conformational correct and therefore has a better chance of passing on a good correct kid (when bred to a good mate)
I see less physical problems in kids that are conformationaly correct, especially as they age.
