Granted this hatch was and still is an odd one but, two of our newly hatched have died after 24 hours. Dead chick #1 was in the brooder. He was eating starter and drinking. Poop was still clear w/ green but he seemed ok. Sometime in the early morning I found him flat in the bottom of the box. He did have an umbilical cord looking thing left on him from absorbing the yolk. He made it out on his own and looked like he was done cooking for the most part. I havent been able to find anything, thought you guys might have an idea.
Dead chick #2 died this morning. He hatched sometime yesterday afternoon. He looked normal. Maybe a little too big for his egg but, generally healthy. I found him belly up on his back in the bater; no clue why. He was drinking water out of a Tupper lid that was shallow enough that he couldnt drown. Temp was good and air flow was normal. This is the second death from the same hen. I have no clue what I did! Any suggestions?
