Hi there,
I bought a silver-laced Wyandotte Rooster from a retired show breeder for my three hens. He was kept in a small cage. I had him couriered to me and the courier took a week to bring him to me, being vague about where he was in that time. When he finally arrived, it was late at night. I immediately noticed he was wobbly and seemed unable to stand. He drank a lot of water with electrolytes when I gave it to him. His feet seemed puffy and his toes curled under him but the toe curling improved by the next day. I tried to keep him isolated so far. He can walk for short periods. The longer he walks, the more his left leg starts to shake. He will eventually stand still, his legs shaking, and then his tail will dip, and he will slide to the ground. He is eating and drinking and otherwise lively and bright eyed. He has developed a little more diarrhea, with white poop staining the vent area however a lot of his poop seems normal, except for when he gives small, watery poops. Walking is clearly painful for him. I'm unsure about what I'm looking at....gout? Early arthritis? MS? The video attached is when I took him into my garden this morning.

I have no idea, but I am sorry this beautiful boy is going through this! Try searching here for an article...I hope someone else sees this who might be of more help. Anyone? Any ideas?

If you could later today get some more close up pictures of his legs that would be good. Hopefully his issue is because of the slow transit and care. Several leg issues such as mycoplasma synovitis (MS,) gout, or marble leg (osteopetrosis) can cause swelling, and all have different appearances. If you are in the US, you could get some testing from a lab such as Zoologix or RAL Vetdna for MS. I would offer some human super B complex 1/2 tablet daily crushed into some moistened feed or egg for a couple of weeks.

Sorry I should have added these with the original post. He does not appear to have bumblefoot or anything like that. The swelling isn't as severe as it could be. He was able to grip my finger earlier which he wasn’t able to do yesterday. I wanted to give him egg with the vitamins but I became afraid this might be gout due to whatever feed he was on as he such a big boy and I didn't want to add purines and protein if that was the case. He is still lively and eating, interested in his surroundings but struggles to walk and balance.
