I have a banty hen that has bumblefoot scabs on both feet. There is no swelling, pus or anything in the foot. I picked off the little scab on both feet. I am soaking in a solution of betadine and water. Should I keep her off the ground or can she go back in the yard???

Hi,
How do you know it is Bumblefoot? IS the foot swollen? And IF not swollen why are you picking the scabs? MoM always told me to not pick at my scabs or they will take forever to heal. Bumblefoot is any infected ( swollen ) sore on the foot. It can be caused by birds running on concrete. The roost can have a sharp edge. Fighting among birds can cause a wound. TSC has an antiseptic, I think it is Blutol or Glutol that is a powder. It will help sanitize the wound and let it heal. I see so many people treating for Bumblefoot, and want to pick at scabs where there is no swelling. Why? Who knows. I had a bird get her neck get pecked at by a young cockerel last week, it has already healed. In one week. I did not pick at it. Over treatment might not be good treatment.
