Early winter has arrived--looks like we might get a good winter.

Went to bed last night, and there was just a dusting of snow left. We had gotten an inch earlier, but it was almost gone.
Woke up to FIVE INCHES and it is still snowing--going on six inches now.

I am a skier, so this is like a guarantee that the ski hill is going to open on schedule. For the past two years, it has only partially been open on opening day, or hasn't been able to open on schedule, due to lack of snow.

In 2010 we got a HUGE winter. I remember a day after Christmas, when it snowed about a foot in one day, and it was snowing nearly every day. Compared to 2010, 2011 was a dismal winter. We got nothing in December, hardly even had a white Christmas. IN January things picked up, though. 2012 winter was okay. We got snow later than usual, so the ski hill could only open on one side.
I am hoping that 2013 winter is going to be 2010 the second!

Lucky you!! I love to x-country ski, but snow cover has been so poor last couple of years, I haven't got out at all

I'm also hoping for more snow this year, Sue

Wow that's a lot of snow! It's like 56 degrees here today, which is a warm spell. Any snow we have gotten has been an inch, and melts by mid day. We have a ski resort not too far from where I am from, but I only ski around my farm, I would be too scared to go to an official ski place LOL! I seen on Pinterest a funny thing about living in New York, it said "You know you live in New York when you get snow on Halloween but none on Christmas" that sumss up the place I live too.
