Earth worms

I am wondering how old chicks should be before they can have earth worms? Thanks!

Mine were four days old when they got their first earth worms. Tiny worms. They knew exactly what to do with them. They're three weeks now, and when I call "come on!" they all come running!

I have no time to dig around to find them. my corner store sells them as bait still alive and healthy but they are super huge. As gross as the task would be if I cut them up would it be ok for the chicks to eat? or should I just wait a bit and take my kids digging for them when I find the time?
