I have a mini coop that will soon have my little adult bantams in it.
The run area will be okay I just need some ideas on how to make it easier to clean.
This is a photo of it when it was first built.

I just cannot get in there to clean it very well. (Just don't bend like I used to!!) We used pellets when the chicks and mamas were in there but these are adult bantams. Generally I use pine shavings in the big coop on a dirt floor. It stays damp with the dirt and all, even though I have a plastic sheet and other layers of stuff to keep it dry. right now that is not an issue!

The floor in the mini is dirt and the roof is on hinges and lifts from the lower edge. It is wood constructed and is very heavy. I use a stout hoe to hold it up!
I saw a design with what looked like a pan that pulled out for cleaning. But that would be difficult to implement.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most of their poop is from when they sleep. If you put a tray under their sleeping roost, you can pull it out easily and keep it cleaner.

I have a duck house that is somewhat like yours. It is hinged to open/ lift up from the backside. The door is in the front.

I got tired of trying to clean it while propping lid open. So I just use a hoe to reach in thru the door and scrape it all towards doorway and clean it out that way.

I do open the hinged lid to add more bedding.

Thank you all, that's why we ask questions here!

I was thinking about using sand instead of pine shavings. Just the shavings in the boxes.

Do you think that would work?
