What type of material for coop and run for extreme temperatures?

Looking for advice - we live in South Dakota and have pretty extreme temperature swings throughout the year. It can get to 100 degrees in the summer and we usually have a week or 2 during the winter with air temps as low as -30 (wind chills in the -40/50s) I have research breeds and their tolerance to weather to help in building a strong flock. I however am stuck on material for the run. We are planning on using Hemp or pine shavings in side the coop. The run is 144 square feet and is covered. Currently dirt/grass (just finished building). We are going to cover the sides in the winter to protect from the harsh winds and snow. I am hoping for something that is relatively easy to clean and doesn't need to be constantly replace but ultimately want to do what is best for the flock.

I love sand in my run! Construction sand or river sand depending on where you live I know it can be called different things. It doesn’t get as cold here as it does in your area so I can’t speak 100% on that but I do know others who have colder temps also use sand. The sand is super easy to sift through and has been great!
