Our son would like to take care of the chickens and he is 6. (we would be making sure he does ok) We have the waterers that you have to screw the base on upside down and flip it over. It's kind of hard to do at that age, and even harder to do without him getting wet. Does anyone recommend any waterers that don't require a lot of physical strength and that's easier to fill and close? I've seen some that the base screws on but I imagine those would have to be tightened pretty tight. Anyone have any ideas?

I recommend putting horizontal nipples in a drinker that has a screw top lid. He can then carry a pitcher over to the drinker, unscrew the top, and fill it up. Or, you could get some horizontal nipples and install them in a bucket that has a lid that's easy to lift off. There are several sources for the horizontal nipples.
