East Africa Homestead

:frow Welcome from New Orleans, what an exciting adventure you have begun. You will have to start a thread and keep us posted on how things are going for you. We also would like to hear about cultural differences, how your garden and trees are going, any other animals you aquire and how that works. Would you mind telling us about the climate and how you are dealing with the animals with regard to the heat.
I have lots of questions and hope you start a thread, almost like a diary for people you don't know. :lau:lau:hugs
we are here for any question you may have and can call on people who are very knowledgable about most anything you may have questions about.
What predators are you dealing with and how do you plan on building your coop?
Good luck and hope to hear from you soon. :frow
Thank you for the comment. Our gardens are going very well, and we are getting lots of produce from the garden. We are using the 'Farming God's Way' which is based on lots of mulch and compost, no chemicals, and bug control by natural bug spray, made by locally grown Neem leaves and hot peppers. We have lovely raspberry beds, more lettuce, collards, spinach, cucumbers and ocra than we can eat. Our banana trees are producing a constant stream of banana, and pineapple plants are producing beautiful fruit. Our avocado trees are producing and mango trees are in bloom. We have several hundred trees planted, including macadamia nut, almond and cashew nut trees. All the trees and garden are doing most excellent.

The climate here is mid sixties at night and mid seventies during the day. Being a few miles from the equator, it is a year round growing season, with rich soil. The days are all the same length . . . 12 hours of daylight, 12 hours of darkness. It rains almost every day or at least several times a week, but mostly sunny. The clouds roll in, rains, and then the sun comes out. I have attached a few pics of the chicken coop and gardens.
