I have eight chickens -- 4 leghorns and 4 golden comets. Never had any thought of raising anymore "livestock" after the wife and I sold our farm and moved to town seventeen years ago. Then life changed directions, and brought our two grand daughters to live with us, and, well, let's just say grandpa has a hard time saying no to his grandkids. The youngest grand daughter decided we should have "backyard chickens". We don't have a rooster as it's not allowed in town. We're hoping to see eggs by mid-September or first of October. With my grand daughter, I've learned more about chickens than I ever wanted to know. But, that's ok. I admit I'm enjoying this as much, if not more, as she is.

Glad you joined.
