East TN Folks... Meet & Greet 4/10, Show on 5/1 (updated)

This highway is nothing but a roar during the summer. Can't set on the front porch at all. Can't open the living room windows. Been kinda quiet this spring due to the rockslide. We just live 2 miles from the 411 Highway. But between the cycles and the ambulances, it's hard to hear yourself think.

Marble's settling in very well. My uncle, who lives up the hill from me, called to ask just how many chickens I have. Between the three roosters all chit-chatting to each other as well a few on up the holler', it sounds like a poultry factory. I leave for work @ 0500 and their all up to say goodbye as I pull out. My wife's going nuts.

I hate working wrecks up there! I guess all those skid marks and crosses don't mean much to those idiots.

I plan to go to Cocke Co show

Wow, Mtn. Cur - I don't envy you your job. Everytime we meet someone heading that way (like in a restaurant) we warn them about the big trucks coming toward them on the wrong side of the road - but I guess the hype they get from all the other riders just make us look like a bunch of fuddy duddies. Never had this kinda conversation with a police officer, but why is it fair that I'm forced to wear a seat belt when cyclers don't even have to wear a helmet in some states? Don't get your hackles up, I know it's in my best interest to wear a seat belt.

Oops! Sorry I highjacked the thread!

It's about stats, if you wear your seatbelt and get into a wreck odds are that you will live. Governors Highway Safety Office gets more money for less fatalities annually, compared to previous years. Which means more grant money towards the state. I think it should be personal preference to wear one, but it gives us good probable cause to make a stop.
