I have two guineas laying in the same nesting spot together... Problem is every time I pick up their egg the girls get mad and go and find a new place to nest.... I wish I could get them to nest in or atleast around the coop or run...

Does anyone know a way to not only get them to not make new nest somewhere else everytime I take an egg? But also to get them to nest near their enclosure????

I feel like it is a Easter Egg hunt!!!n

I leave mine in their coop/run tell after 3:00 in the afternoon so they will lay their eggs in the coop before they get let out. I also always leave a few eggs in the nest to keep them laying in the same place or close to the same place. This has really worked for me as I have hatched over 200 keets this season and have fed the dogs probably close to that number of eggs that I didn't have room for in the incubator. I have stopped hatching eggs for the season because I have all that I can house and sales have been up and down. More down than up.

You can't take all the eggs. Leave at least 4 behind and mark them with a pencil or sharpie. Pick out the new eggs every day and as long as you leave these ones behind, they will continue to use the nest.

It's also a good idea to not let them see you take the eggs or let them see you messing with their nest at all. If they feel their nesting spot is not private enough or safe enough they usually will choose a new spot (which is usually in an unsafe spot!).

I "salt" my nests with duds/clears from the incubator or brown chicken eggs (marked with a sharpie pen) and I collect the new eggs 2-3 times a day. I also keep my breeding flocks in until the Hens have laid their eggs for the day.

So i took a can of feed out in the feild and spread it out to give myself some time to go and check out the nest with out being stalked. My chickens and guineas are stalkers if they see you they are under your feet so i have to bait them if i need to do something in the yard without them. So as they were eating i snuck over to their nest took four eggs and banded them with black sharpie. So we will see where they lay tomorrow. Cross your fingers please!!!!!!

I was taking all but 2 eggs everyday from my pied hen. She was laying in our field grass about 20 yards from the drive way. When i would see her off the nest I would grab the eggs. My bator got full so I planned to leave the rest for her till I had room. When we had 100+ heat days, I would go out and offer her some water. At first she would attack the bowl. then when she got a little water, she welcomed me each day (or i should say didnt try to attack me) However to my suprise, when i finally had room for the last ones in her nest, I found 21 eggs. when i candled them they were not at the same stage ..
